Fluorite Gemstones

Triple Fluorite Necklace

Fluorite semi precious gemstones are a favorite of mine. Each stone is so varied in color from clear to light purple to dark purple and every shade in between. I particularly like the ones that have the different shades of green in them. You can also find fluorite with yellows in them as well.

The Latin word fluo, which is a noun, means a flow or stream of water. The verb in Latin is fluor or fluere meaning to flow. Where fluorite derives its name from, which I think is perfect given the nature of the gemstone patterns.

Fluorite is also known as fluorspar. It is a halide mineral and is an isometric mineral. When pieces have crystal twinning which is common it adds depth and complexity to the patterns of the gemstones. Due to its colorful nature fluorite has been and is used for jewelry and decorative pieces.

Statues carved in fluorite have been found in ancient Egyptian archeological digs. The Chinese have been carving statues for over 300 years.

Fluorite gemstones are believed to neutralize and absorb negative vibrations. It can also be used to amplify the energies of other stones. Those who believe in the energies of gemstones should keep fluorite in every room of their home to deflect negativity.

Esoterically, it is also believed to bring order to chaos, clearing the way for new things. Including paving the way for purification, perfect health, harmony and order on every level. It is also believed to heighten intuition, and increase your concentration.

Fluorite gemstones also foster truth, objectivity, and intellect. There are those that also believe it will increase one’s ability to increase analytical abilities and grasp abstract concepts. In this realm it will also assist in looking at a situation from an objective standpoint especially if you are too close to what you are attempting to analyze.
