The Work of Prepping for Vacation!!!

Vacation's are suppose to be a time for relaxation and rejuvenation;  however, more often than not they end up being exhausting and disappointing.  This is especially true for parents vacationing with children.  While we all like to thing that this isn't true it really is.  Let's take a look at some of the reasons behind this and then discuss tips you can use to enjoy your vacation to the fullest.

To start with there is the decision on where you are going to go and the length of your vacation.  Once that is determined then you have to decide how you are getting there.  Will you be driving, flying, taking the train or even the bus.  If you are Not self employed there is the wait to see if your time off will be approved by your employer.  Trust me do not make reservations till it is approved.

You also have the decision of where to stay.  If visiting family are you staying with them or at a hotel.  Camping is also an option, then there is the option of a camper or a motor home.  All viable options to be considered and decided upon.

Working, regardless if it is for yourself or someone else, you have to make sure business is taken care of before you leave.  Desk cleared, projects done, pre-planning as much as your position requires. For some it even means working overtime so that the work is ahead of schedule, due to no one being able or available to cover while you are gone. depending on your work situation.

Then there is the making sure your home is taken care of while you are gone.  Which is going to vary depending on your situation.  Pets, if you have them, need to have arrangements made to care for them.  Does that mean a house sitter, a kennel or taking them on vacation with you.

Finally, the packing!  Which could be as simple as a couple changes of clothes in an overnight bag to two full suitcases depending on how long your vacation is going to be.  Exhausted yet, I know I am just thinking about it, but vacations serve a purpose and is one that we in the United States do not take seriously enough of or enough of them.

Next week we will be posting our Top 5 Vacation Tips, for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation!
